Environmental Paintings
Sometimes a portrait needs more than a face to tell the whole story.
Environmental paintings are created around the life, personality, and passions of the person being portrayed. The setting becomes part of the storytelling—a favorite place, a treasured possession, a lifelong interest, or some small detail that immediately says, this is who they are.
I thoughtfully bring these elements together into one cohesive painting, carefully considering the setting, clothing, expression, light, and meaningful details so that nothing feels simply placed there. Every element has a reason for being part of the story.
The result is more than a portrait. It becomes a glimpse into a life—a painting filled with the things that make one person's story uniquely their own.
And because every good story deserves a name, each finished painting is given a title—sometimes chosen by me, sometimes inspired by the client, but always chosen to reflect the story the painting has come to tell.
Cameo Style Paintings
Soft, delicate, and quietly timeless, these paintings reminded me from the beginning of the beauty of an old cameo—something treasured, intimate, and meant to be kept. And so, Cameo Style seemed the perfect name.
These portraits are intentionally understated, allowing the subject to emerge gently from soft tones and subtle surroundings. Depending upon the person and the story being told, they may feel beautifully formal or wonderfully intimate and familiar.
There is a tenderness to this style that sets it apart from my other portrait work. Rather than filling the painting with detail, I allow softness, light, and simplicity to become part of the portrait itself.
The result is a quiet, elegant painting that feels almost like a memory—personal, timeless, and created to be treasured for generations.
Fine Art Restoration
Some of our most treasured photographs are also the most fragile.
They may be tucked away in old albums, boxes, or drawers—faded by time, damaged through years of handling, or simply showing the effects of having survived long enough to become part of a family's history.
But age does not have to mean the end of their story.
Through careful digital restoration and hand-painting, I can repair damage, restore lost detail, soften the effects of time, and bring new life to photographs that might otherwise remain hidden away.
Some images need only gentle restoration, while others require more extensive reconstruction. In either case, my goal is not to erase the history held within an old photograph, but to preserve what matters most—the faces, the memories, and the stories we don't want time to take from us.
Once restored, these treasured images can be beautifully printed and archivally framed, allowing them to come out of the boxes and albums where they have been stored and become part of the family story once again.
Not simply restored, but remembered, preserved, and ready to be passed on.
Legacy Paintings
Some of the photographs we treasure most are the ones we wish had been taken—but never were.
A Legacy Painting allows separate photographs, people, places, and memories to be thoughtfully brought together into one new work of art. It may unite generations who never had the opportunity to be photographed together, bring family members from different seasons of life into one composition, or place someone within a setting that holds special meaning to their story.
Using the photographs you have, I carefully create a cohesive composition, considering proportion, light, expression, placement, and surroundings so that the finished painting feels natural and intentional—not simply like separate images placed together.
These paintings require both imagination and sensitivity. I am not recreating a moment that happened exactly as shown. I am creating something new from the pieces of a story that are already yours.
The result is a painting that could never have come from a single photograph, yet holds something beautifully true: the people, relationships, and memories that belong together in the heart.

Bereavement & Memorial Paintings
There are times when a photograph becomes more than a photograph. After someone we love is gone, an image can become a treasured connection to a face, a moment, and a life we never want to forget.
Bereavement and Memorial Paintings are created with particular tenderness. Using the photographs you have—even a favorite snapshot or, in some cases, a cell phone image—I can create a meaningful portrait that honors the person you love and preserves something of their presence for the years ahead.
These paintings can be simple and intimate or thoughtfully composed with meaningful details that help tell a larger story. My desire is always to create something that feels personal and true—a remembrance that brings comfort while honoring a life that mattered.
Memorial paintings are also available for beloved pets, whose absence can leave an enormous empty place in the homes and hearts of those who loved them.
