Hope In Hard Places

Not every place where God plants us feels gentle. Some seasons come with barbed wire, with boundaries we didn’t choose and wounds we never wanted. There are days when the world feels weathered — like splintered posts and rusted edges — and we wonder how beauty could possibly live here. And yet… it does.
Here, where roses climb the weary wood and sunlight gathers in petals like praise, we see a truth that only experience can teach: hope is not fragile. It grows in hard places, too. It wraps itself around what hurt us, not to erase the past, but to redeem it. These blooms are not ignorant of the wire — they rise in spite of it. Maybe because of it. This is the way of grace: to take the sharp things and soften them with mercy, to take what was meant to break us and make it bear fruit, to take the fences of our lives and turn them into frames for His goodness.
Hope is not the absence of struggle. Hope is the presence of God in it. So if this season feels like a hard place, hold on.
Look closer. There are roses growing here.

Romans 5:3–5
“…we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance; and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame…”
