His Lamp Still Burns
This painting is a meditation on 1 Samuel 3:3, “The lamp of God had not yet gone out.” In a season when the word of the Lord was rare, and visions were few, the young boy Samuel lay near the ark of God and heard His voice for the first time. The lamp still burned through the night as a sign of God’s faithful presence.
The image of the oil lamp glowing beside an open book is a reminder that even in the darkest hours, God’s light has not gone out. His Word still speaks, His presence still shines, and His whisper still calls our name. We may walk through seasons of silence or sorrow, but the lamp of His truth continues to burn, steady and unwavering, guiding us through the night until morning comes.
“The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, where the ark of God was.”
