My Birthday Wish
She stands in a field of blooms, surrounded by color and light, yet her heart aches with what is missing. On this day of celebration, her one wish is not for candles or gifts, but for one more embrace—the arms she longs to feel, the voice she longs to hear. Though she knows the embrace she dreams of is beyond this life, the longing remains, wrapped in love that has not ended, only changed.
Grief and love intertwine here, and her birthday wish becomes a prayer: “Lord, hold him close until I can again.” Even in her sorrow, she clings to the hope of reunion promised in Christ: “And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:17–18)
This embrace—imagined yet deeply real in her heart—is a reminder that love is never wasted, never lost. It is carried in the presence of God, who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Her birthday wish is more than longing; it is faith that one day, every tear will be wiped away, and she will once again be held by the one she misses so dearly.
“Love never ends. It is the thread that ties earth to heaven, sorrow to hope, and longing to promise.”
